The Reconciliation of Self
#
Analytical psychology suggests that at some point in our lives we all undertake a process that can enable us to achieve a complete and balanced psyche, facilitating a total understanding of who we are as individuals. This is known as the process of individuation, the objective being the reconciliation of the life of the individual with the world of the supra-personal archetypes. However, this process does not come without its problems, many individuals often have difficulties in accepting their identity and the various archetypal opposites that our unconscious mind is composed of, leading to the manifestation of psychological disorders.
This body of work aims to address the role our unconscious plays in forging our identities, in an ever-evolving post-modern environment. Addressing the function of the archetypal opposites of our unconscious minds, the images explore how the symbolic dramas we enact in our daily lives can offer deep personal meaning which can either manifest in the outer world as a new life or remain symbolic, thus unrecognised and unaffected.
